New High-Availability Capability for TimelyBill OSS

TimelyBill is excited to announce the addition of a new high-availability capability!
TimelyBill’s primary data center infrastructure is already N+1 to N+5 on all key hardware, power supplies, and bandwidth.  This new functionality is related to database availability.  Each TimelyBill customer has both a production and stage database instance.  These instances are unique to a customer and not shared.

Additionally, we operate the database files, log files, operating system and backups on different disks.  This allows us to maintain a database or recover it to an exact point in time locally even with a loss of an entire disk LUN.  From a database backup perspective, we continue to operate in Full Recovery mode.  We currently maintain 90 days of full backups off-site, and five days of transaction logs on-site. Some of our customers have taken advantage of the transaction log backups, which allows us to restore customer data to a specific second in time.  It’s important to know that Time…

Geocoding Addresses in TimelyBill

What is geocoding?
Geocoding is the process of transforming a postal address to a spatial location on the Earth's surface. The resulting locations are output as  numerical coordinates with attributes, which can be used for mapping or spatial analysis.

Why implement geocoding?
Locations need to be accurate so that telcoms can determine what services are available to a given house or business. An incorrect address could lead to wrong assumption that customer is not in a service territory.  It could also lead to repair troubles or difficulty in installation of new equipment or services.

The TimelyBill approach?
TimelyBill first verifies a customer location by matching it with a USPS standardized address.  Next, our integrated FCC geocode lookup tool provides the coordinates as well as the census geographies (state, county, tract and block) associated with address.
